Woman allegedly stabs husband during disagreement over meal at Maamaso

-

A domestic dispute over a meal reportedly turned violent at Maamaso, near New Abirem in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region, leaving a 29-year-old man, identified only as Kofi, seriously injured.

His wife, 21-year-old Maafua, is said to have stabbed him during an argument about food on Monday.

According to Maafua, her husband gave her money to prepare banku and okro stew, but it was insufficient, so she decided to prepare light soup instead.

Upon returning home from work, Kofi confronted his wife after noticing the meal had been changed.

Information gathered by Adom News suggests that Maafua told him the money was not enough for okro stew and that she had saved part of it for later use.

The disagreement quickly escalated into a physical altercation. During the struggle, Kofi allegedly picked up a knife, which Maafua managed to seize and reportedly used to stab him.

An eyewitness, Atta Mallam, told Adom News that Maafua appeared to have acted deliberately.

Kofi’s brother, Francis, who was in another room at the time, said he heard the noise and rushed in to find his brother wounded.

He immediately rushed him to the New Abirem Government Hospital, where he was later referred to the Koforidua Government Hospital for further treatment.

Police are currently investigating the incident.
