Tensions in Nigeria’s music industry have flared after Wizkid publicly criticised Burna Boy over the alleged assault of DJ Tunez at a private nightclub event in Lagos.
Reports indicate that Burna Boy and members of his entourage were involved in a physical altercation with DJ Tunez, born Michael Babatunde Adeyinka, following a disagreement that reportedly escalated out of control. Multiple individuals reportedly joined Burna Boy in the assault.
Following the incident, Burna Boy reportedly continued to troll DJ Tunez online, reposting videos showing the DJ knocked down.
Reacting to the events, Wizkid took to social media to condemn Burna Boy’s actions, accusing him of hiding behind a mob to display thuggery. He described Burna Boy as a “fool,” further stirring public speculation about his alleged connections with incarcerated Diddy.
Wizkid’s reaction is deeply rooted in his long-standing relationship with DJ Tunez. The pair have worked closely for over a decade, with Tunez serving not only as Wizkid’s official DJ since around 2015 but also as a key figure in his global performances and brand.
Wizkid’s reply adds to the growing conversation around the incident, as Nigerian DJ Association bans airplay of Burna Boy’s songs.
