There have been times when we have unintentionally forgotten to remove make-up before going to bed. We tell you why it’s important to be more careful and not to sleep with makeup on.
Make-up acts as a barrier
Having a thick layer of makeup on your face is not a good idea, as it suffocates your skin and irritates it.
It can cause inflammation
While having any kind of makeup on overnight is never recommended, foundation does the most damage. It’s generally oil-based and happens to have a thick consistency. If not removed properly or left on overnight, it can clog pores leading to acne and blackheads.
Leads to chapped lips
If you have left mascara on, some of it can enter your eyes causing eye irritation, while sleeping with lipstick is also not okay as most of them leave your lips drained of natural moisture, leading to chapped lips.
Skin cannot breathe
Due to the thick layer of makeup, your skin collects oil and dirt. When you sleep with makeup, you skin does not get a chance to breathe and this results in oxidative stress, which can cause wrinkles.
