Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has revealed why he chose to join AFC Bournemouth, turning down several other suitors to sign for the Premier League club.

Semenyo completed a £10 million transfer from Bristol City to Bournemouth in January 2023, agreeing to a four-and-a-half-year contract. Since then, the 25-year-old has become a key player for the Cherries, making 81 appearances and scoring 20 goals.

In an interview with Showmax, Semenyo explained that Bournemouth’s sustained interest was a major factor in his decision.

“I had a few clubs that were quite interested. But Bournemouth kept track of me from that summer through to the World Cup and right up until January, so their interest was really strong,” he said.

“They were watching me, checking up on me, and that shows how good the club is. Their consistent interest made an impression.

“Yeah, I knew my heart was set on joining Bournemouth even though I had other interest. From the moment I signed, I never looked back,” he added.

Semenyo enjoyed a standout season, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists, attracting reported interest from Premier League giants Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
