Western Regional Minister visits wife of flight officer killed in helicopter crash

The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, has commiserated with Naval Lieutenant Ewuradwoa Kumi-Kyereh, wife of Flying Officer Manean Twum Ampadu, one of the crew members who perished in the military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.

The Flying Officer and his wife are assigned to the Two Garrison in the Western Region.

The minister, who led the Western Regional Security Council to the Western Naval Headquarters at Sekondi to express condolences to the spouse of the fallen officer, expressed shock at the devastating incident.

“We have been hit hard with the news of this shocking incident, and we are here to commiserate with the wife of one of the crew members involved in the crash who is a Naval officer,” he said.

He extended his heartfelt sympathies to Lt Kumi-Kyereh, who is also the Two Garrison Psychologist, and prayed for God to comfort her and the family in this difficult time.

The Director-General of Religious Affairs of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Brigadier-General Benjamin Kumi-Woode, said the tragic incident had shocked the whole country and GAF in particular.

He offered his commiseration to the bereaved officer, saying: “We want to say that all of us are with you and pray that God gives you the strength to go through this trying time.”

The Flag Officer Commanding the Western Naval Command, Commodore Samuel Ayelazono, expressed gratitude to the regional minister and the REGSEC for their show of sympathy to Lt (GN) Kumi-Kyereh and the families of all involved in the crash.
