We were like family – Nii Lantey Vanderpuye reflects on close ties with fallen leaders

National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme, Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, has paid an emotional tribute to the late Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Alhaji Murtala Mohammed, affectionately known as Alhaji Metals, describing them as more than friends but family.

Speaking with a mix of sadness and warmth, he recounted his close bond with Dr. Omane Boamah, whom he often consulted on medical matters.

Their relationship, he said, was built on trust and mutual respect.

With a smile, Nii Lantey fondly remembered how Alhaji Metals once returned from Turkey with a special perfume, playfully warning him to give it to his wife and not his girlfriend.

The two lived in close proximity in Cantonments, separated only by a wall, and their families became inseparable over the years, with their children playing together like siblings.
