We stand with you in flesh and spirit – Chief of Staff consoles families of helicopter crash victims

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has once again expressed solidarity with the families of those who perished in the military helicopter crash on Wednesday, 6th August 2025.

Speaking at the Evening of Reflections and Memorial held in their honour, Mr. Debrah assured the bereaved that the entire nation stood with them in their grief.

“To the wives, children, parents, relatives, former colleagues, and close comrades of our fallen heroes, know that you are not alone in this tragedy.

“We stand with you in flesh and spirit. We know God will restore you and this nation. And we assure you of a complete closure on the events surrounding your painful loss,” he consoled.

The memorial, attended by senior government officials, religious leaders, members of the security services, and the general public, was marked by heartfelt tributes, prayers, and a solemn moment of silence.

The tragic incident in the Ashanti Region claimed the lives of Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology Murtala Muhammed, Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Samuel Aboagye, Deputy NADMO boss; and Samuel Sarpong, NDC Vice Chairman and former Kumasi Mayor.

The crash also took the lives of three crew members—Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah

The crash has left the country in deep mourning and prompted calls for a full investigation into the circumstances leading to the fatal incident.
