Former President of the Ghana Bar Association, Yaw Boafo Esq., has publicly endorsed New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, describing him as a leader capable of delivering results.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Mr. Boafo dismissed claims that Kennedy Agyapong lacks the temperament to lead the country, describing such assertions as unfair and misplaced.
According to him, leadership should not be judged solely on calmness or personal disposition, but rather on the ability to achieve tangible results.
“Saying that he doesn’t have the right temperament is out of line. We all know he has made some mistakes in the past. People will always have opinions, but sometimes the end justifies the means. While it would be ideal to have a perfect candidate, we should focus on getting the job done. Sometimes, we need a good person rather than just a nice person, and that’s what leadership is about. We must weigh our options carefully,” he said.
Mr. Boafo explained that his support for Kennedy Agyapong is grounded in principle, humility, and the capacity to drive national development.
He added that power has a way of humbling leaders and expressed confidence that Kennedy Agyapong has matured over time.
Urging Ghanaians to look beyond personality traits when choosing leaders, Mr. Boafo emphasised the need for a candidate who can deliver development and create more employment opportunities.
“I support Ken because he is the one who can bring development and more jobs to this country. The first quality I look for in leadership is humility. He has made efforts to tone down his past behaviour, but as Ghanaians, we need to think critically: are we looking for a calm leader, or someone who can bring about real change? Power has a way of humbling individuals. Therefore, I endorse Kennedy Agyapong on principle,” he added.
