Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, Chairman of Asante Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee (IMC), has called on the team to deliver a strong performance against Hearts of Oak, emphasising that excuses will not be tolerated.

The Porcupine Warriors head into the much-anticipated Super Clash without a permanent head coach, following Karim Zito’s departure on Monday.

Zito resigned after the team’s FA Cup Round of 16 exit on Sunday, losing 4-2 in a penalty shootout to Aduana FC.

Speaking to the squad during Tuesday’s training session, Nana Apinkrah stressed the need to move past recent setbacks and focus on the task ahead.

“We can’t afford further excuses. It’s redemption time, and let’s leave the past behind and focus on what is ahead,” he said.

“We must redeem ourselves on Sunday,” Nana Apinkrah added.

The showdown at Baba Yara Stadium is set to kick off at 17:00 GMT.
