Interim Asante Kotoko SC coach Prince Yaw Owusu has admitted that he saw the team’s 2-1 defeat to FC Samartex coming.
The Porcupine Warriors fell to the Timber Boys in Tuesday’s Matchday 28 clash at the Baba Yara Stadium, a game originally postponed due to heavy rain on Monday.
Speaking after the match, Owusu expressed disappointment, revealing that the team’s preparations had not gone as planned.
“I think everyone saw it; it was obvious. I felt really bad after the game, and it actually started yesterday. The way we wanted to approach the game didn’t go as planned, so I could see it coming. We tried to prevent it, but we couldn’t,” he said.
Owusu cited a breakdown in tactical discipline as a major factor in the defeat, noting that the players struggled to execute the game plan effectively.
The result leaves Kotoko in fourth place with 43 points.
Asked about the club’s title hopes, Owusu remained cautious but optimistic. “It looks like it, but I’m not sure. We will try and fight back,” he added.
Kotoko now turn their attention to Matchday 29, visiting Medeama SC at the TNA Park this weekend in search of a return to winning ways.
