Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku says the team was determined not to finish the season without silverware after missing out on the Ghana Premier League title.
The Porcupine Warriors wrapped up their 2024/25 campaign on a high by securing their 10th FA Cup trophy with a victory over Golden Kick FC at the University of Ghana Stadium.
Opoku was the hero of the day, scoring twice to seal the win.
“We are Asante Kotoko. We can’t go trophyless. We were supposed to win the league, but unfortunately, we didn’t. So we had to do something for the club. I’m happy we won this FA Cup.”
Reflecting on the season, Opoku commended the team’s efforts.
“I’ll say we’ve done well this season.”
With the FA Cup triumph, Kotoko not only ended the season with silverware but also secured qualification for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
