We are well prepared to face South Korea despite injuries – Otto Addo

-

Ghana head coach Otto Addo has acknowledged the challenges of preparing for Tuesday’s friendly against South Korea, citing a string of injuries that have left his squad depleted, but insists the team is well-prepared for the encounter.

Only 19 players are available for the match following the absences of Francis Abu, Antoine Semenyo, and Mohammed Salisu.

Abu underwent successful ankle surgery after fracturing two bones during Ghana’s Kirin Cup clash with Japan last Friday. Salisu and Semenyo have also returned to their clubs to recover from ligament sprains.

Speaking ahead of the game, Addo admitted the difficulties posed by the reduced squad.

“We were facing some difficulties due to injured players. It’s also, to be honest, not so easy for us to get replacements because of visa issues. It’s always not possible to get fast replacements. But we prepared very well,” he said.

The Ghana coach remained optimistic, recalling their narrow World Cup victory over South Korea.

“We are looking forward to the match on Tuesday. The last time we met them was at the World Cup, where we won, but it was a very close match. We are happy to be here and happy to have this opportunity to play against South Korea,” Addo added.

Ghana will face South Korea on Tuesday, November 18, as they conclude preparations for the 2025 season ahead of next year’s World Cup.
