Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has defended the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s fiscal management, insisting that its spending remains disciplined despite concerns over revenue gaps.

His comments come amid growing public debate over government expenditure, with opposition voices—particularly from the New Patriotic Party (NPP)—accusing the administration of underspending.

Speaking in an interview on Channel One TV’s Face to Face, Kwakye Ofosu compared the current government’s approach with that of the previous NPP administration. He noted that although both governments experienced revenue shortfalls, the NDC has been more responsible by adjusting spending to match available resources.

“It is not true that we don’t spend. We are spending, but we are being fiscally prudent,” he said. “When you read the budget, the Finance Minister indicated that there was some shortfall in revenue, but he had corresponding cuts in expenditure. He comes within the limits that he had set for himself. Under the NPP, when there was a drop in revenue, they ballooned expenditure.”
