We are in a progressive state – Hearts of Oak coach after President’s Cup defeat

Didi Dramani

Hearts of Oak head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has maintained that his side is still undergoing a development phase following their 2-1 loss to arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in the 2025 President’s Cup.

The experienced trainer, who recently signed a two-year contract with the Phobians, was aiming to clinch his first silverware with the club.

Hearts of Oak took the lead in Sunday’s match at the Accra Sports Stadium, but Kotoko staged a comeback in the second half with two quick goals to claim victory.

Speaking after the match, Dramani reflected on the defeat with a calm perspective.

“It’s part of the industry. At a time we were controlling, we lost a key player [Osei Asibey]. They took a chance, and so we have to acknowledge that,” Didi Dramani said.

Despite the setback, the former Black Stars assistant coach remains optimistic about the club’s long-term vision.

“We are in a progressive process. I’m very impressed with the composition and execution. There is a lot we have done, but there is a lot we have to put in. I believe we will get there with some adjustments.”

Dramani also had words of gratitude for the club’s loyal supporters.

“We love the fans so much. We want to see more of this.”

Hearts of Oak will now shift focus to the upcoming Eko International Cup in Nigeria, a key part of their preseason plans ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
