A video shared on Facebook appears to show some staff of Koforidua Pentecost Secondary School telling a student to move her belongings out of a chop box after she reported to school with it.
In the video, one of the staff is heard saying the student, who is in Form Three, knew the chop box was no longer accepted on campus and that she must get a rubber bag or something else to keep her items in.
The video was shared by Blackjoy TV on Thursday, September 17, 2026 as some students returned to school after vacation.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service (GES) issued a directive on Friday, September 18, telling Senior High and Senior High Technical Schools not to turn away, refuse admission to or deny accommodation to duly admitted students solely because of the trunk, chop box or other storage container they bring.
The directive says the container must be reasonably sized and safe, and must not endanger the health, safety or welfare of other students.
GES said it issued the directive after receiving reports that some schools were refusing to accommodate newly admitted students who arrived with metal trunks, wooden chop boxes or other containers.
