The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has expressed concern over the lack of a ministerial appointment from the Wassa area, describing the situation as worrying for the party.
Speaking at a party gathering in the Amenfi Central Constituency, Mr. Asiedu Nketia highlighted that Wassa has consistently been a stronghold of the NDC in the Western Region, demonstrating unwavering support for the party over the years.
He noted that, despite claims by some individuals blaming certain party figures for the absence of a minister from Wassa, efforts were made during the government’s appointment process to ensure the area was considered.
Calling for calm among party supporters, the NDC chairman assured them that the matter remains a concern for the party leadership and is still being addressed.
“The chiefs will testify that the NDC in the Western Region has been most welcomed by Wassa. The Wassa seat has consistently been won by the NDC. Our strength lies in Wassa. After the elections, when government appointments were being made, people blamed Nana Kwaku, saying he was the reason Wassa hadn’t received a minister.
“However, he was actually the one pushing me on this issue of appointments. Sometimes these situations arise, but we need to be patient. There are individuals fighting for the people of Wassa, and it’s concerning that there is no minister from Wassa. This situation worries us as a party. Nonetheless, we are united, and we have only been in government for one year,” he said.
