Cruiserweight boxer Braimah Kamoko, alias Bukom Banku, has declared that he will no longer fight in Ghana but would rather campaign overseas because he had lost the love of the people and no longer felt safe.
Kamoko, 37, suffered the first loss of his career on October 21 after losing to Bastie Samir in a non-title fight at the Bukom Boxing Arena. The tough-talking boxer alleged that some people wanted him dead because of his perceived political affiliation.

He suspects the excitement generated after is loss to Samir could be traced to people who were uncomfortable with his political activism.
“I suspect some people want to kill me. They hate me because of the political party I belong to,” he told the Graphic Sports in an interview yesterday.

Kamoko added that he particularly played an important role to keep Ghana boxing alive and continued to work tirelessly to generate excitement in the sport, and so was at a loss as to why there was a perceived hate campaign against him.
“I single-handedly made Ghana boxing what it is today; I was the face of boxing and now they want to kill me. Everyone is happy I lost. Some want me dead.”
The popular boxer said he intended to relocate to the United Kingdom and ply his trade there, vowing never to fight in Ghana again.

Meanwhile, Kamoko has extended his goodwill to his friend and rival, Michael Ayittey ‘Powers’ as he prepares to fight Gbese Bruno on March 10.
Kamoko, who twice defeated Powers in non-title fights two years ago, also extended his best wishes to Bruno but refused to be drawn into predicting which of the two boxers would win the fight.
