Black Satellites head coach Desmond Ofei has described Ghana’s upcoming clash with Benin as a must-win encounter, as the team aims to progress to the next stage of the ongoing WAFU U-20 Championship.
Ghana opened their Group A campaign with a 1-1 draw against Nigeria at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
Meanwhile, Benin suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to the Flying Eagles, leaving them at the bottom of the group and in desperate need of a win to stay in contention.
Speaking ahead of the decisive tie, Coach Ofei underscored the importance of the game and said his team will not underestimate their opponents despite Benin’s shaky start.
“It’s a very important game for us; we want to qualify, so we have to win,” he told the media.
“Despite the heavy defeat against Nigeria, we know they are still a good side. So we have to be sharp, we have to be hungry, and we shouldn’t give anything away. We will have to show on the day that we’re the better side to get the three points.”
The match is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 GMT.
