Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang over the weekend officially inaugurated three significant infrastructural projects at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing higher education and fostering innovation.
The new facilities include the KNUST Souvenir Shop, a modern Multipurpose Laboratory, and the KNUST Bottling Company. The inauguration was attended by KNUST Chancellor His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Vice Chancellor Prof. Rita Dickson.
Speaking at the event, the Vice President said the projects demonstrate the transformative potential of well-supported universities in driving national development. She emphasised that the new facilities will enhance teaching, learning, research, and entrepreneurship on campus.
“These initiatives are a testament to what becomes possible when our universities are empowered to innovate and excel. Government remains committed to providing institutions like KNUST with the infrastructure and tools necessary to stimulate economic growth and national progress,” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said.
She further urged the university community to leverage these facilities to develop innovative solutions that address the country’s pressing challenges and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s development agenda.
