Voting has officially ended nationwide in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries, with counting and collation of results currently underway at polling centres across the country.

More than 211,000 accredited delegates were expected to cast their ballots at over 300 polling centres nationwide.

Five aspirants contested the race: former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Minister for Food and Agriculture Dr Bryan Acheampong, former Minister of Education Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, and businessman Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

The closely watched election will determine the NPP’s flagbearer for the 2028 presidential election and shape the party’s direction following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.

Security was tight across the country, with police deployed to ensure a peaceful and credible process throughout the exercise.
