Volta Education Directorate eyes top honours at 2025 National Teachers’ Day Awards

The Volta Regional Directorate of Education has expressed high optimism ahead of the 2025 National Teachers’ Day Awards, with expectations that teachers from the region will secure most of the top honours.

Speaking in an interview with Adom News after a media briefing held in Ho, the Volta Regional Director of Education, Francis Yaw Agbemadi, lauded the dedication and hard work of teachers across the region.

He stated that their commitment to excellence in education positions them as strong contenders for this year’s prestigious national awards.

“We are confident that our teachers will shine at the national level. The quality of work they are doing in our schools is commendable, and we are hopeful that their efforts will be duly recognised,” the regional director said.

The media engagement also featured key members of the Local Planning Committee, who outlined preparations towards the event.

The Deputy Volta Regional Director of Education, who is also Chairperson of the Local Planning Committee, Mrs Marian Jemima Akua Adzroe, disclosed that arrangements are far advanced, with support from various stakeholders and individuals.

“We have received some sponsorship from benevolent individuals who believe in the cause of education and the need to celebrate our hardworking teachers. Their support is helping us organise a befitting ceremony,” he noted.

Dennis Osei Owusu, Head of Public Affairs, National Teaching Council, also shared insight into some of the award categories.

These include Best Kindergarten Teacher, Best Primary School Teacher, Best Junior High School Teacher, and Best Senior High School Teacher, as well as Special Awards for innovation, leadership, and rural teaching excellence.

The 2025 National Teachers’ Day Awards, scheduled to take place on the 5th of October 2025 at Ho UHAS Cedi Auditorium under the Theme: “Elevating The Status of Teachers for Quality Education”, is expected to draw participation from all 16 regions of Ghana.

It serves as a platform to honour and motivate educators who continue to play a pivotal role in shaping the country’s future.
