Teacher trainees across the country have threatened to take the government on if they are not paid their delayed two-year salary.

According to Mr Kwabena Oppong Dominic, the advocator of the distressed teachers, they have sent letters to the Ministry of Education complaining about their unfortunate condition but all to no avail.

“We have not received payments for about 2 years. we talked with our regional director but he claims he’s tired fighting for us. We met the Deputy director general and nothing was done after he promised us feedback…” he said.

Meanwhile, one of the teachers, Asante Nyarko Vivian lamented on their sad state of over-borrowing from friends and family to survive.

“We the new teachers are suffering. we are pleading with them to help us to move education forward…” she said.

Agyemang Emmanuel, told Adomonline.com he cannot fathom why they will work for two years without salary and the government seems unperturbed.

The unpaid teachers threatened to embark on a demonstration if all their efforts are turned down, adding that they are not motivated enough to pursue the teaching career.

“It’s sad. We were working before we came to the teaching work. now we are not motivated. if its a private institution would this happen…” they queried.
