Former President John Dramani Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama says the realities of people’s lives will expose the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government if it keeps promoting lies and propaganda.

He made this statement in Accra, a day after Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia addressed a Town Hall Meeting on the state of Ghana’s economy.

“You can do all the lies and propaganda with the economy, the reality of people’s lives will expose you,” he said to a cheerful party faithful.

He added that his background in communication has taught him all the tricks the NPP is using to lure Ghanaians to think the economy is in a good state.

“I just want to leave you with something we learnt in school. One subject that is core in Communication Studies is Public Relations. Public Relations is the act of using different instruments to either maintain or improve the image of an institution or a person and so in putting out your communication as a Public Relations Officer you try to present the institution or the person you are trying to promote in the best possible light.

“You might somewhat be selective with your figures. You put the best ones forward and the bad ones behind, but our lecturers always reminded us that, we should  beware of our realities and keep our Public Relations and communication as close to the realities as possible.

“It is when you lose sight of this reality that you begin to promote propaganda, that’s when you begin to see effects we are seeing with the incumbent government,” he noted.
