Vice President pays tribute to Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings

Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has expressed her sorrow over the death of former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, describing her as a national icon whose legacy will endure for generations.

In a heartfelt tribute, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said the late former First Lady’s remarkable contributions to Ghana’s social and political landscape will always be remembered.

“We mourn the passing of our former First Lady, H.E. Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings. She was a true icon and will be remembered for her service to Ghana,” she stated.

The Vice President extended her condolences to the Rawlings family, especially Nana Konadu’s children, and wished them strength during this difficult time.

“My deepest condolences go to her children and family. I wish her peaceful rest,” she added.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement and a champion of women’s empowerment, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra after a brief illness.
