Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman, together with the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has commissioned a new batch of officer cadets into the Ghana Prisons Service at a graduation parade held at the Prisons Officers Training School.
Serving as the Reviewing Officer for Officer Cadet Course Intake 32, the Vice President commended the graduates for their discipline and resilience, urging them to uphold integrity and professionalism as they join the Service.

The event was hosted by the Director-General of Prisons, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, alongside other senior officers.
The Vice President reiterated government’s commitment to strengthening the Prisons Service through improved welfare and enhanced operational capacity.

She cited recent policy decisions, including the upward adjustment of the daily feeding allowance for inmates from GH₵1.80 to GH₵5.00, as part of a broader effort to ensure humane treatment of inmates.
She also referenced President John Dramani Mahama’s recent amnesty for 998 inmates, describing it as an important step toward decongesting Ghana’s overcrowded prisons and advancing rehabilitation-focused correctional reforms.

Highlighting ongoing reforms under the President’s reset agenda, the Vice President drew attention to the Think 360 Degrees Prisons Initiative, which prioritises officer and inmate welfare, vocational and industrial training, agricultural mechanisation, and infrastructure development. The initiative aims to boost rehabilitation, generate revenue, and support national development.
Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman applauded the Director-General for her leadership and praised the Prisons Regimental Band for their performance during the parade.

She further urged the newly commissioned officers to serve with excellence, dedication, and discipline.
Officer Cadet Intake 32 has now officially joined the senior corps of the Ghana Prisons Service.
