Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has called on Ghanaians to use the Eid al-Adha celebration to strengthen national unity, deepen compassion for the vulnerable, and promote peaceful coexistence across the country.
In a goodwill message to Muslims marking the festival, she said Eid al-Adha is a reminder of key values such as faith, obedience, sacrifice, and service to humanity, urging citizens to reflect these principles in their daily lives.
“This occasion reminds us about the importance of faith, obedience, compassion, and service to humanity,” she said.
She further encouraged Ghanaians to use the festive period to build stronger community bonds and show kindness to vulnerable groups in society.
“I encourage all Ghanaians to use the season to strengthen the bonds of community, extend kindness to the vulnerable, and renew our commitment to national unity and mutual respect,” she added.
Eid al-Adha, one of the most significant festivals in Islam, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command, and is observed worldwide through prayers, charity, and acts of sacrifice.
