Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has voiced his satisfaction after Ghana’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago in the 2025 Unity Cup.
The win came as a strong response following Ghana’s 2-1 semifinal defeat to Nigeria. The third-place playoff, held at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday, saw the Black Stars bounce back in convincing fashion.
Captain Jordan Ayew set the tone early, opening the scoring in the 15th minute. Defender Razak Simpson of Nations FC and Union Saint-Gilloise forward Mohammed Fuseini both marked their national team debuts with goals before halftime, giving Ghana a commanding lead.
Lawrence Agyekum, who recently completed a permanent move to Belgian side Cercle Brugge, added the final goal in the 57th minute to wrap up the dominant performance.
Speaking after the match, Addo praised his squad’s display and emphasised the importance of the experience for emerging talents.
“In general, we got a lot of answers, and it’s also good to look to the future, and I think some of the boys used the chances,” Addo said after the game.
“They did really well, and surely we will continue to observe them, and for us, we played well in the last World Cup qualifiers.
“We will observe and see how they do in their clubs, and like I said, today I’m very satisfied,” he added.
With the Unity Cup campaign now concluded, Ghana turns its attention to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The Black Stars will travel to face Chad before hosting Mali in Matchday 7 and 8, scheduled for September.
