Underground Mining Alliance (UMA), in partnership with Ropeak Limited, has cut the sod for the construction of walkways worth $55,000 at the Asutifi North District Hospital in Kenyasi, Ahafo Region, to enhance healthcare delivery.
The ceremony, attended by chiefs, staff of the Asutifi North District Assembly, health workers, and youth groups, marked the beginning of the corporate social responsibility initiative by UMA and its partner company.
Speaking to Adom News, the Information Technology Officer of UMA, Joseph Adomako Junior, said the absence of proper walkways at the hospital had been hampering smooth healthcare delivery, particularly during the rainy season.
He added that the contractor is expected to complete the project by the end of 2025 to ease movement for both patients and staff.
The Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Obed Benyin-Mensah, expressed appreciation to UMA and Ropeak Limited for the intervention.
He explained that health workers and patients have long struggled to move between departments, especially during wet weather, and described the initiative as a timely and much-needed relief for the facility.
