The U.S. Embassy, Accra has announced the immediate release of over 1,000 non-immigrant visa appointment slots, giving prospective travellers the chance to secure interview dates within the coming week.
According to the Embassy, a substantial number of B1/B2 visa appointments — designated for business and tourism travel — are currently available, and applicants are being encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity.
The move is part of broader preparations by the United States to facilitate increased international travel ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which it will co-host with Mexico and Canada.
In a notice posted on Facebook on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, the Embassy urged individuals intending to apply for U.S. visas to book their appointments promptly.
“There are more than 1,000 B1/B2 visa appointment slots available in the next week – one of those could be yours,” the notice stated.
Applicants who already have interview dates scheduled for later in the year were also encouraged to reschedule for earlier slots where possible.
“Book a new appointment – or move up one scheduled for later in the year – we want to interview you now!” the Embassy added.
Prospective applicants have been directed to visit the Embassy’s official visa page for detailed information on application requirements and procedures.
The announcement is expected to ease concerns among travellers who have faced extended waiting times for visa interviews in recent months.
