Black Princesses head coach Charles Sampson has reaffirmed his team’s determination to secure qualification to the next round of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana’s U-20 women settled for a 2-2 draw against South Africa in the first leg on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, leaving the tie finely poised ahead of the return fixture.
Speaking after the match, Sampson expressed confidence that his squad has the quality and mindset to finish the job in Johannesburg when the second leg is played on Sunday, February 14.
“Our aim is to qualify, and thankfully, the games are not only one. This is just the first half of it,” he said.
“They came and got, maybe, what they wanted. Now, we have to go there and get what we want to advance further.”
He added that the technical team and players are fully focused on delivering a positive result away from home.
“We will do everything we can to make sure we go to Johannesburg and qualify for the next round,” he said.
The Black Princesses must record a victory over South Africa in the return leg to advance to the final round of the qualifiers, where they could face either Zambia or Uganda. Sampson and his squad are expected to depart for South Africa on Tuesday.
