The Black Satellites of Ghana have arrived in Ismailia for their decisive final Group C encounter against the Central African Republic (CAR) in the ongoing 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
The all-important fixture is set for Thursday afternoon at the Suez Canal Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 GMT.
After opening their campaign with a 1-1 draw against DR Congo, the Black Satellites bounced back with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over defending champions Senegal on Monday night.
The win has propelled Ghana to joint top of Group C alongside DR Congo, with both teams sitting on four points after two matches.
“We have arrived in Ismailia for our final group match against the Central African Republic,” said Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe, Head of Public Relations and Strategy at the Ghana Football Association, in an interview with Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show.
“Our goal is to progress to the next round. With the momentum from our win over Senegal, I’m confident the team will get the job done on Thursday,” he added.
A victory against CAR would guarantee Ghana a spot in the next round of the competition.
The team is scheduled to hold training sessions on Tuesday evening and Wednesday as preparations intensify ahead of the must-win clash.
The Black Satellites are aiming to finish the group stage on a high note and mount a strong challenge for a record-extending fourth U-20 AFCON title, which would also secure qualification for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.
