U-20 AFCON: Ghana coach labels quarterfinal showdown against Egypt as a ‘final’

-

Ghana U-20 head coach Desmond Ofei has described their crucial quarterfinal clash against hosts Egypt as a “final” as the Black Satellites prepare for a decisive showdown in the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ghana, unbeaten in the tournament so far, topped Group C with seven points after recording two wins and a draw.

They will now face Egypt on Monday at the New Suez Stadium, with kickoff set for 15:00 GMT.

“Tomorrow’s game is a final,” Desmond Ofei told the press.

“It is a golden ticket; everybody wants this ticket, and I’m sure the host nation will do everything in their ability to win the game, but all in all, we have to show that we are the better team,” he added.

A victory for the Black Satellites would not only send them into the semifinals but also secure a place at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile — their first appearance at the tournament since 2015.
