U-20 AFCON: Black Satellites eye quarterfinal spot ahead of CAR clash

-

Ghana’s Black Satellites are targeting a place in the quarterfinals of the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as they prepare for their decisive group stage clash against the Central African Republic (CAR) this afternoon.

The crucial encounter is set to take place at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 GMT.

A victory for Ghana would guarantee their progression to the last eight of the tournament.

Ahead of the match, key players Lord Afrifa and Hakim Sulemana have voiced their confidence and determination.

Midfielder Lord Afrifa, who played a pivotal role in Ghana’s 1-0 victory over Senegal, emphasized the team’s ultimate goal of qualifying for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

“The game will be tough. CAR are good, but we’re ready,” said the Sturm Graz player.

“Ghana is ready for any challenge.”

Meanwhile, forward Hakim Sulemana—who earned the Man of the Match award in the 1-1 draw with DR Congo—highlighted the team’s tactical readiness.

“Our technical team has worked on a strategy, and we’re confident we can execute it and get the win,” the Randers FC attacker stated.

The top two teams in the group will advance to the quarterfinals.
