Two remanded over acid attack at Aboso

The Tarkwa District Magistrate Court has remanded two people into prison custody over a violent acid attack at Aboso, within the Tarkwa Municipality, in August 2024.

The Western Central Regional Police Command, in a statement, explained that initial findings showed the first suspect confronted the victim at Aboso Mandelinde Junction, pushing him from behind and sparking a scuffle.

He later returned with the second suspect, 19-year-old Victor Vorgah, who was allegedly carrying a polythene bag containing a bottle of suspected acid.

The substance was reportedly poured on the victim’s face, leaving him with serious injuries.

A release dated August 21, signed by ASP Beatrice Turkson, Head of Public Affairs for the region, confirmed that both suspects were arrested on August 9, 2025, from separate hideouts.

They were arraigned before the court on August 14, where they were charged with abetment of crime under Section 20(1) of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29) and causing unlawful harm under Section 69 of the same act.

Presiding judge, His Honour Charles Owusu, ordered the accused persons to remain in prison custody until their next court date.

Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for a third suspect, identified only as “Black,” who is still on the run. Authorities are appealing to the public for credible information about his whereabouts and have assured that all involved will be brought to justice.
