The Upper West Regional Police Command has secured the conviction and sentencing of two men involved in a string of robberies within the Wa Municipality.
Abdulai Ibrahim, also known as Baba, a 34-year-old driver’s mate, and Abdulai Kipo, a 36-year-old butcher, were found guilty of conspiracy to commit robbery and multiple counts of robbery.
The Wa Circuit Court, presided over by His Honour Jonathan Avoogo, sentenced Ibrahim to 28 years in prison with hard labour, while Kipo received 18 years.
According to the police, the two were behind a series of armed attacks in communities such as Napogbakole, Danko, SSNIT, and Konta—all within the Wa Municipality. Their arrest followed intensive intelligence-led investigations by the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate, which gathered sufficient evidence to support prosecution.
In a statement, the Upper West Regional Police Command expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the case.
“The court’s verdict underscores the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice and safety in the region,” it said.
The police further reassured the public of their continued efforts to uphold law and order.
“The Upper West Regional Police Command reaffirms its determination to make the region safe for peaceful coexistence and will continue to work tirelessly to combat crime and protect its residents,” the statement added.
