Two people have been confirmed dead following a tragic road accident at Lapaz near Papaye Fast Foods.
The victims, an okada rider and a pedestrian, were pronounced dead at the scene after being struck during the collision, eyewitnesses said.
According to witnesses, the accident occurred when the driver of a black vehicle allegedly used a mobile phone while driving and failed to observe a red traffic signal.
The driver reportedly collided with another vehicle that had the right of way. The force of the impact pushed the second vehicle off its path, hitting the motorcyclist and a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the road at the time.
While the pillion rider survived with injuries, both the okada rider and the pedestrian died before emergency responders arrived.
Police have visited the scene, and investigations into the incident have commenced.
