Two chainsaw operators have died in a fatal logging accident at Bekawopa, a community in Twifo Hemang within the Lower Denkyira District of the Central Region.

The victims have been identified as Yaw Asare, popularly known as Tompuu, believed to be in his 50s, and Eric Teteh, in his 30s.

Preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred while the men were working in a forested area. A tree they were cutting reportedly fell in an unexpected direction, trapping both operators beneath its weight.

Community members who rushed to the scene were unable to rescue them due to the severity of the impact.

Police have launched investigations to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident.

The tragic deaths have left the Bekawopa community in shock, as both men were well-known locally for their work in timber operations. The bodies have since been removed and conveyed to the morgue.
