The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two men in connection with the violence that erupted at the Omanjor Chief’s Palace during the Homowo Festival on Saturday, August 30, which left three people dead and several others injured.

According to a statement signed by Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, 35-year-old private security officer Christian Saka Ahianyevi was arrested on August 30, while 26-year-old dispatch rider Newton Alotey was apprehended a day later.

Police recovered 18 spent BB cartridges from Alotey, while Ahianyevi was found in possession of a locally manufactured pistol, a cutlass, and other items. All exhibits have been secured as evidence.

The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations, as security personnel maintain a heavy presence in the affected communities.

The Command has appealed for calm and urged residents to cooperate with security agencies. It also called on the public to provide credible information on other suspects by contacting police emergency numbers 18555 or 191.
