Two arrested over robbery and murder of 20-year-old at Tweapease-Aboo

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested two men in connection with the robbery and killing of a 20-year-old, Kofi Mensah, at Tweapease-Aboo in the Ashanti Region.

The suspects, identified as Solomon Opoku and Collins Aboagye, were picked up after an intelligence-led operation that followed days of tracking by the police.

In a statement, the police said the incident came to light on October 6, 2025, when the Assembly Member for the area reported that the victim had been attacked and murdered, with his Haojin motorbike stolen.

Investigations led to the arrest of Solomon Opoku on October 10, 2025, at Council Quarters in Obuasi, when he allegedly tried to sell the stolen motorbike.

His arrest later helped police trace and apprehend his accomplice, Collins Aboagye, at Kokotesua, another suburb of Obuasi.

Police say both suspects have confessed to the crime, and the stolen motorbike has since been recovered.

The two are currently in custody and are expected to be arraigned before court on Monday, October 13, 2025.

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice for the victim and maintaining peace and safety across communities in the region.
