The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects, Atame Elijah and Nasiru Yakubu, who attacked a gold merchant on 20th October, 2025, at the Adumasa market.
The suspects injured six people, including the gold merchant, during the robbery operation.
In a statement, the police said the duo escaped with an unspecified quantity of gold and cash but abandoned an assault rifle, four rounds of live ammunition, and a motorbike as they fled the scene.
In collaboration with community members and the assemblyman for Adumasa, the police conducted a search operation that led to the arrest of the two suspects from their hideouts.
Exhibits retrieved from them include a bag containing some gold and money.
The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting investigations, while efforts are underway to arrest the remaining suspect.
Meanwhile, the Police Command has commended the community for their immense support, leading to the arrest of the suspects, and has assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to enhance safety and security in the area.
