The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested two persons for extortion and impersonating officials of the Ghana Gold Board Taskforce.
The suspects, Foster Delord, aged 40, and Prince Worvi, aged 38—both of whom claim to be ex-military officers—were apprehended after police received a complaint that they had been visiting various gold dealers while posing as members of the taskforce.
A search conducted during their arrest uncovered several incriminating items, including a pair of handcuffs, pepper spray, an electric shocker, a uniform, and GH₵500 in cash.
The two suspects have since been arraigned before the Tarkwa Circuit Court and remanded into police custody pending further investigations.
Meanwhile, the Regional Police Command has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any individuals who claim to represent government agencies without proper identification or authorisation.
