The Ahafo Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects believed to be part of a well-coordinated robbery syndicate that carried out a series of attacks in Nkasiem on December 2, 2025.
Police say the gang launched simultaneous strikes on a gold buying company and a cocoa purchasing firm, seized two police rifles, and attempted—unsuccessfully—to break into the vault of the Asutifi Rural Bank, all within the same enclave.
The robbers, armed with pump-action guns, also shot and wounded a civilian in the thigh. The victim received treatment at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hwidiem and was later discharged.
According to the Police, the arrests were made through a targeted intelligence-led operation, with a manhunt currently underway for the remaining members of the gang who managed to flee.
Investigators believe the suspects are part of a broader criminal network that has been exploiting commercial hubs within the Ahafo mining and cocoa-growing belt, where cash transactions and rural banking facilities remain frequent targets.
In response to the scale and audacity of the attacks, the Inspector-General of Police has deployed a special anti-robbery unit from the National Headquarters in Accra to reinforce the regional team.
The elite unit has been tasked with hunting down the fugitives and dismantling the syndicate.
The Police Command has assured residents that every member of the group will be identified, arrested, and prosecuted.
