As part of the government’s plans to make Technical and Vocational education and training (TVET) relevant, it has unveiled a 5-year strategic plan.
Hon. Barbara Acher Ayisi, Deputy Minister of Education in charge of TVET announced the plan in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen on Monday.

“We want to change the perception about Technical and Vocational skills in Ghana. We have a competence-based training (CBT) for those working in the vocational field. We will build State of art centres and schools in every district to make technical and vocational skills attractive and accessible to all. We will get accreditation for them so that they can use their certificate in the cooperate world to prevent them from being limited,” she stated.
According to the Deputy Minister, as part of His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo‘s economic transformation agenda, an emphasis is being placed on the provision of quality TVET as one of the key ways of empowering the youth with relevant skills and competencies to take advantage of emerging jobs in the various sectors of the economy.

She also urged Ghanaians to believe in themselves, saying “we should hold on to what we have and be proud of what we do,” she said.
