The National Tripartite Committee, comprising representatives from the government, employers, and organized labor/associations, has begun negotiations for the 2025 minimum wage, starting on February 3, 2025.

This marks a crucial step in setting wage standards for the upcoming financial year. Following these discussions, attention will shift to determining the base pay for public sector salaries.

However, both processes are behind schedule, as they were expected to conclude by the end of April 2024, in accordance with the Public Financial Management (PFM) Act.

The ongoing delay in finalizing these negotiations poses significant risks to the 2025 budget planning process.

The government insists that social partners, including employers and organized labor, must expedite discussions to ensure a swift resolution.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, acting spokesperson to the president, emphasized the urgency of completing the negotiations to establish the necessary financial guidelines for the upcoming fiscal year.
