“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.” Psalm 116:15 NIV
Sgt. Mensah Addo Ernest was enlisted into the Ghana Air Force on 25 July 2011 and
successfully passed out on 23 December 2011 as part of CSE 1/2011.
He later enrolled in the Ghana Air Force Aviation College (GHAFAC) in 2012, to pursue his career in the Air Force as an Aircraft Technician and successfully graduated in the year 2016 as part of Course 10.
He was an airman at the Tamale Base and was later posted on attachment to the Takoradi Base to work on the Z9 (No. 8 Heli Wing).
His hard work and zeal as a technician on the Z-9 were one of the beautiful ways he could express his love for the aviation industry.
Sgt. Mensah was loved and admired by a lot of people because he showed true passion in his line of duty.
He always had a smile on his face even when things looked a bit disturbing.
His advice to the younger ones was, “NEVER GIVE UP AND DO NOT LOSE HOPE IN YOUR CAREER PATH BECAUSE NOTHING COMES OUT WELL IN NEGATIVITY, BUT WITH A POSITIVE MINDSET YOU WILL ATTAIN YOUR AIM.”
He was particularly fond of the young female technicians. He was dedicated to ensuring that the few who dared to venture into the aviation technician field were mentored well and encouraged to stay.
Ernest was a man of deep faith. You had a conviction that no obstacle could derail a man from his purpose for which God has ordained for him in life.
Your life revolved around your deep faith and belief in your creator. You always had a testimony to share about the divine providence of God.
For you, the only way a man could show gratitude to his maker was by being a diligent worker.
You embodied the ideals of what service to God and country represented. The No. 8 Heli Wing has lost an invaluable technician and a brother in arms.
It is our hope that all the young ones you trained would rise to the challenge and fill the void your passing has created.
Sergeant Mensah, the Ghana Air Force is forever indebted to you. You paid the ultimate price with your life.
Your life’s work and achievement would be etched in the history of the Service. For every lift off and touch down we register, it would be dedicated to the angels of the No.8 Heli Wing.
You have played your part, now rest in the bosom of the Most High God.
Rest Thee Well.
Sgt.t Mensah Addo Ernest.
