
The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry has held a stakeholder engagement to promote the local production and procurement of uniforms as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s textile and garment industry.
The meeting, held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the Ministry, was chaired by Deputy Minister Sampson Ahi on behalf of Sector Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Ahi reiterated the government’s commitment to advancing the local textile and garment sector under the 24-Hour Economy Plus policy, which aims to create decent jobs and boost national revenue.
Key presentations included an overview of the textile industry and its challenges by Ken Asare, Factory Manager of Akosombo Industrial Company Limited, and insights into the garment industry’s potential by Nana Poqua Adiamah, National Coordinator of the Association of Garment and Apparel Manufacturers (AGAM).
The session also featured open discussions with stakeholders and ended with a call for stronger collaboration to enhance local content and drive industrial growth.
