A Toyota Voxy has been burnt to ashes after it caught fire following an accident at Asikyire Nkwanta in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.

The vehicle, with registration number AS 8119-25 and driven by 32-year-old Paul Okyere, was travelling from Kumasi to Asankragua when the incident occurred.

According to victims, the driver was speeding and veered off his lane upon reaching a sharp curve on that stretch of the road. In an attempt to avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle, he tried to return to his lane but lost control of the car.

Speaking to the media, the Bibiani Municipal Safety Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, David Azuma, said the service received a distress call about a vehicular fire and quickly dispatched a team to the scene.

He explained that firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control, but the vehicle had already been completely destroyed by the time the fire was extinguished.
