Tourism Ministry clarifies official name amid public confusion

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts (MoTCCA) has issued a formal clarification regarding its official name, following widespread inconsistencies in how the Ministry is referenced in media reports and public discourse.

In a statement signed by Mabel Delassie Awuku, Head of Public Relations, the Ministry emphasized that the only legally recognized and official name is: MINISTRY OF TOURISM, CULTURE AND CREATIVE ARTS (MoTCCA).

The statement explained that this name reflects the Ministry’s renewed mandate to fully incorporate the creative arts sector as a core pillar in Ghana’s tourism and cultural development strategy. It also marks a return to the original name assigned at the Ministry’s inception.

MoTCCA is urging all stakeholders—especially media houses and government communicators—to consistently use the correct name in all official documentation and reporting.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to promoting Ghana’s cultural heritage, tourism potential, and creative industries as part of the broader national development agenda.
