Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has signed the book of condolence for veteran actress Grace Naa Kwarley Nortey.

In a moving tribute, the minister described the experience of writing in the condolence book as difficult, reflecting on the personal bond she shared with the late actress and the place she occupied in the lives of many creatives.

“Rest in perfect peace, Mother. Writing in this book was not easy. One of the many mothers we have as creatives,” she wrote.

Madam Gomashie recalled regularly visiting Grace Nortey when she was alive and fondly remembered the late actress’s prayers for the nation.

According to the minister, Grace Nortey often prayed for the President because she believed he cared for her.

Grace Nortey died on August 26, 2026, at the age of 89. Her death marked the loss of one of Ghana’s respected veteran actresses, whose career spanned theatre, television and film and who became familiar to generations of audiences through her memorable performances.

Her passing prompted tributes from colleagues, fans and members of the creative community, many of whom remembered her not only for her work on screen but also for the influence she had on younger generations of performers.

The family has scheduled her burial service for Saturday, October 31, 2026, at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.
