The Traditional Medicine Practice Council (TMPC) has shut down the facility of popular herbal practitioner Doctor Caesar in the Ashanti Region for operating without a valid licence.
The closure was carried out on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, as part of an enforcement exercise targeting unlicensed traditional medicine facilities.
TMPC Regulatory Officer, Divine Ajiraku, said the facility had been operating for three years without renewing its licence, in breach of the requirements of the Traditional Medicine Practice Act, 2000 (Act 575).
According to him, the Council had visited the facility weeks earlier and given its management sufficient time to regularise its documentation, but no action was taken.
Mr Ajiraku said the failure to comply left the Council with no option but to shut down the facility.
He added that the Council will issue a letter directing the management to report to its office and complete the required processes before the facility can be reopened.
No arrests were made during the exercise.
Meanwhile, the owner of the Asempa facility, which was previously closed by the Council, has been invited by the police for questioning.
The invitation follows allegations that the owner vandalised the padlocks used by the Council to secure the facility and subsequently reopened it for business.
The latest enforcement exercise forms part of the TMPC’s ongoing efforts to curb the operations of traditional medicine practitioners who do not have the required licences.
